Understanding conservation status

An IUCN Red List category describes global extinction risk in the wild. CITES regulates international trade. Least Concern does not mean that trade is unrestricted, or that local populations face no threats. Source-check dates show when NEBR reviewed the cited material, not when the conservation assessment was made.

CITES & UK documentation

For UK commercial use, check the current Annex listing and the individual bird’s circumstances. Annex A specimens generally require an Article 10 or Article 60 certificate for commercial use, subject to exemptions. Annex B trade does not require Article 10, but lawful acquisition must be evidenced. Importing or exporting listed birds can require separate permits. Check the official guidance and APHA before proceeding; Great Britain and Northern Ireland arrangements may differ. NEBR registration does not replace statutory documents.
